The new Arts & Humanities programmes make progressive strides in research and scholarship, as reflected in the 2009 Times Higher Education (THE)-Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Subject Rankings.
Just four years old, the Arts & Humanities may be NTU’s newest programmes, but that has not stopped its impressive rise in the subject rankings of the annual THE-QS World University Rankings.
Having leapt 67 places from its 2008 placing in the survey, the young Arts & Humanities programmes are now ranked 126th globally in the 2009 THE-QS subject rankings. This is a significant improvement, especially as the subjects were just launched four years ago and reflect NTU’s fast-rising stature in the fine arts and languages domains. Both the School of Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) and School of Art, Design & Media (ADM) received their first full cohort of students in 2005 and welcomed their pioneer batch of Bachelor's degree graduates at this year’s Convocation in July.
Strides towards excellence in all spheres of the arts and humanities
Students and faculty of HSS and ADM, like those of the globally-reputed and more established Wee Kim Wee School of Communication & Information of the College of Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, have been garnering international accolades for their creative work and research. In recent years, NTU has secured notable tie-ups in the arts and humanities disciplines with esteemed partners such as Harvard University in the United States, Domus Academy in Italy and University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
