Associate Professor Ravi Kambadur, from NTU's School of Biological Sciences, has won a research grant from the inaugural scenario-based Competitive Research Programme (CRP) by the National Research Foundation (NRF). Professor Kambadur will lead a team of scientists to work on the winning research programme, “An Integrated Approach to Overcome Sarcopenia and Frailty in Aging Humans”. The research aims to develop biomarkers for early detection and therapeutics to overcome progressive and involuntary loss of muscle mass in old age known as sarcopenia. The programme will receive funding of up to S$10 million over the next three to five years.
