28-Mar-2009

The green and novel compressor, developed by NTU’s School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Associate Professor Ooi Kim Tiow and Research Associate Teh Yong Liang, wins the silver prize at the World’s Best Technologies Showcase (WBTshowcase), held from 24 to 25 March 2009 at Arlington, Texas. The winning NTU-developed ‘Revolving Vane Compressor’ is potentially one of the most energy-efficient in the world. It could reduce energy loss by 80 percent when compared to the compressors currently available in the market which will result in worldwide energy savings of US$16 billion a year for heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
